Paul Zindel

Paul Zindel is a playwright, novelist, and educator. He was born in 1936, and died in 2003. Paul Zindel grew up in New York City, and went to college for chemistry at Wagner College. He went to work as a Chemistry and Physics teacher at Staten Island for 10 years.
Zindel wrote his first play in high school (The Effects of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds). The play went to broadway in 1970 and 1971. It was then made into a movie in 1972. Paul Zindel has written 53 books, like My Darling, My Hamburger and The Doom Stone. He also wrote the rest of The Pigman series. Zindel was also a playwright, and wrote plays such as The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, and Amulets against the Dragon Forces.
I think Paul Zindel wrote The Pigman because he might of experienced something like this, or had his own Pigman in life. Perhaps Zindel had a friend that had a Pigman, since the book doesn't seem written like the author experienced what he was writing about. Maybe Zindel just thought it was a good idea, and that it would make an impact of teen lives.
