The book, The Pigman, is written by Paul Zindel. Zindel also wrote books such as The Doom Stone, My Darling My Hamburger, and The Gadget. I don't really know exactly why Zindel wrote the book, but I know that he also wrote 2 more books about the Pigman so I assume it is his most popular book series.
I think he might just be writing a random story or maybe a friend's story because he doesn't seem to be relatable like he experienced it. I don't have much to say on the topic other than that he didn't seem to write it with a passion in his heart.
