Paul Zindel

Paul Zindel, If you don't know, is the author of the book, the Pigman.  Paul Zindel was born on Staten Island, New York.  His parents were divorced when he was just a kid, so it was just him, his mom, and his sister.  He moved around a lot, so school was hard.  He eventually got a masters degree in science.  Before he started to write books, he was a professor in chemistry.
He wrote plays as well.  One of his plays, The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigold, went on the tv.  Someone named Charlotte Zolotow saw the potential in the play and urged him to become a writer.  Paul was able to write over 50 books and plays before he died of cancer in 2003.
I feel that Paul Zindel wrote the Pigman because of two things.  In the book, the Pigman dies.  Before this book was published, his mother died.  I feel he wanted to express his feeling by writing what John and Lorraine were feeling.  I also feel he wrote this book to talk about his friend, Nonno Frankie.  Who acts like to Pigman.

  1. I like your first paragraph you described his childhood and what happened. I didn't know that he died from cancer. I like how you expressed your feelings. Good Job.

  6. I agree with your reasoning in the second paragraph, but I hadn't realized that he had a friend like The Pigman. That kind of explains a lot since he doesn't seem to connect with John and Lorraine too much, but explains the Pigman really well. I also liked how to you talked about his early life, and I hadn't realized he died of cancer. Overall, really good job explaining.
