(Lauren E.) About Paul Zindel

The author of The Pigman is Paul Zindel. He has wrote many books like My Darling, My Hamburger, The Pigman's Legacy, The Pigman & Me, To Take a Dare, and many more. He was born on Staten Island, New York in 1936. His parents were divorced and him and him mother moved around New York City very frequently. He attended Wagner College on Staten Island and received his Master's Degree in science. He also taught chemistry for 10 years. Along with writing books, he also made plays and they were usually about his books. In 1968, The Pigman had came out. It was a very big hit.

One of his plays called The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds earned him the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The Pigman won 6 awards, which made Zindel very well-known. He got inspired to write the book because when he was younger he had an adult he referred to as his "Pigman". His "Pigman" had taught him a lot just like Mr.Pignati had cared and taught John and Lorraine many things. His "Pigman" was named Nonno Frankie. I think that Jophn and Lorraine were kids like Paul in real life. What I mean is that Paul was John and he had a friend that stuck by his side just like Lorraine did. The author had many things happen to him just like John and Lorraine did.
